When recoloring hair extensions, it's essential to meticulously prepare each weft. I recommend cutting them apart and assessing each piece individually. Pay close attention to the root color, the existing lowlights, and the overall tone of the weft.
Consider the following questions during your assessment:
* How does the root of the weft compare to the client's natural root color?
* Do the lowlights need to be refreshed?
* Has the dimension faded?
* Do the wefts need to be re-laid in a different way to achieve the desired look?
By taking the time to correct each weft, you can ensure the best possible blend for your clients.
For the wefts I recently worked on, I used Redken Shades EQ Gloss in 6N, 6NA, and a touch of 5N with 6 volume processing solution. All the color was processed for 20 minutes. The blonder wefts were then toned with Redken Shades EQ Gloss in 9V and 10P.
